Background
GDCO was honoured to transform an unused space at Queenstown Primary School into a bright, functional community library serving children in Queenstown and the surrounding areas. This project was completed in collaboration with A Different View Project (ADVP), with book donations generously provided by Little Libraries Guyana.
Project Objective
The project aimed to provide children with a dedicated space for reading, learning, and exploration. By refurbishing the building and equipping it with modern facilities, the initiative sought to:
GDCO's Role
During this project, GDCO provided financial and logistical support, assisted with resource procurement, and led the full renovation and repair of the structure. The organization oversaw the installation of air conditioning, windows, and shelving, creating a comfortable and functional library space. GDCO also provided a laptop and other essential materials to enhance the learning environment and foster a place where children can read, explore, and grow.
Teamwork Makes the Dream work!
Alongside the building renovations, Little Libraries Guyana helped fill the space with generously donated books. Teachers and students from Queenstown Primary School added their own personal touch by painting and decorating the library with colourful designs. Together, GDCO, Little Libraries Guyana, ADVP, and the Queenstown Primary School community transformed the building into an inviting spaces that nurtures curiosity and creativity.
