Background Information
With the success of previous projects at Johanna Cecilia Secondary School (JCSS), Green Dupatta (GDCO) rejoined the school to launch Phase 2. In Phase 1, GDCO supported JCSS by expanding its greenhouse and poultry facilities to foster a sustainable, circular economy within the community. This partnership was rooted in their shared commitment to sustainability and community empowerment. Located away from the city’s resources, JCSS operates a self-sufficient, hands-on program that teaches students ethical agriculture and environmental sustainability. The success of Phase 1 has led to substantial community-driven initiatives, such as the creation of a student-led pepper sauce, produce and poultry business. The students sell their products to the community, including restaurants, stores and more. These earnings are reinvested into the program and a scholar fund for the students.

Project Objective:
Building upon the success of Phase 1, GDCO is partnering with JCSS to develop an outdoor kitchen and preparation area that will provide with hands-on experience in preparing produce and poultry safely and in line with regulatory standards.
